TVNZ 7’s ‘Spotlight on Science + Technology’ for August
During August, TVNZ 7 will be focusing on science and technology with an exciting range of programmes, both local and international. TVNZ has partnered with the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology for the ‘Spotlight on Science + Technology’ month, and also with the Royal Society of New Zealand for a new 10-part series about New Zealand science.
The brand new commissioned show, called Ever Wondered?, showcases the work of New Zealand scientists and is presented by award winning young scientist Dr John Watt. The series has been developed in partnership with the Royal Society of New Zealand and screens in half-hour episodes, starting Saturday 7 August at 6.10pm. Other programmes on TVNZ 7 during August include special episodes of the regular shows Back Benches and Media7 relating to the science and technology theme; the interview show Talk Talk featuring guests Dr Richard Faull and Dame Elizabeth Hanan; a TVNZ 7 Internet Debate; and a Science Made Simple series comprising short explanations to demystify science and technology terms playing throughout the month.

The committee of the CSTA has written twice to the Minister of Education expressing its concern over recent government education policies, specifically as they relate to the sciences.
